Sleepyglow.net FTP Access
If you're here, you must be one of my beloved peoples. :] Hello! How are you? This page is just some basic information you might or might not need to know if you have a subdomain & FTP account over here. There are only a scant few of you, but I thought I'd make it easy on everyone and compile a neat little thing for you right here. Love! ♥ [~Sie]
Reminders
- Passwords are case sensitive.
- Only I can change your password, so please write it down when it is given to you. I don't mind changing them occasionally, but if it gets to be a habit, I will be mad. |:
- Do not give your website password out to anyone else. If you are having trouble logging on, uploading, editing your website, whatever, I will help you. Please do not allow strangers to login to my space. D:
- Please bookmark this page. I'll send out e-mail alerts occasionally if necessary, but I may also post important things or resources here eventually. :]
Resources
Notepad++ — Where would I be without this program? :| I love it. Tabbed interface and the ability to "skin" your editing window however you'd like to see it, which is awesomesauce.
Color Pallete Generator — This is freaking great for generating multiple pallettes for use with any kind of color-based project and I love it.
Pixel Patterns, BGpatterns — Just a few background design resources I use.
Web Safe Fonts — Not sure what you can display on your site and what you can't? Check this — provides a preview, the likelihood the font is installed, and so forth. Awesome.
Your HTML Source, Lissa Explains — A few HTML help sites I like. I've used Lissaexplains for a really long time, and HTML Source has quite a few good tutorials.

FTP Programs
Go download an FTP program. FTP Surfer is very basic and very free and is extremely easy for people unfamiliar with FTP to use. Filezilla is another option, but it is geared toward people who are slightly more familiar with FTP. FireFTP is an amazing add-on for Mozilla Firefox that allows you to login directly in your Firefox window. I am a fan of FTP Surfer and FireFTP.
FTP Surfer Login
Step One: Download FTP Surfer. The interface is pretty much very early Internet Explorer, and if you are using a Windows machine you should be vaguely familiar with the layout of FTP Surfer's interface. The address bar is at the top, this is where we focus to connect to the site.
Step Two: Copy & paste or type the following into the URL bar, replacing the username with your given username, and the password with your given password. Hit enter. Note: Yes! There are supposed to be two "@sleepyglow.net" things in the URL.
ftp://username@sleepyglow.net:password@sleepyglow.net
Step Three: Upload your files! If you're building a website, it generally works best to keep an exact mirror of your site on your hard drive, not only because it provides a back-up in case of the site going down or the server getting wiped, but you can work on your stuff if your internet goes down.
Step Four: Add sleepyglow.net to your list of Favorites in FTP Surfer and include the username & password in the URL so you can easily connect next time.
